With everything going ‘green’ now, I sat out to find a ‘green’ alternative to the common over the counter, chemical laden lice killers. I stumbled upon pure tea tree oil and it many benefits. I was intrigued.
Tea tree oil comes from a plant found in Australia. It has several medicinal and cosmetic uses. It can be used as an antiseptic, an antibacterial, and an antifungal home remedy.
Tea tree oil has been known to treat sore throats, wounds, skin diseases such as ringworm and athletes foot, acne, dandruff and lice, just to name a few.
Researchers in Ireland found that 2 ingredients in tea tree oil when applied on lice, resulted in nerve death. This is huge news for people on the lookout for an all natural lice killer in place of the over the counter products that contain harmful chemicals.
The key is the determining the correct amount of tea tee oil to kill off the lice. There are products online that contain tea tree oil, from spray in, leave in products to shampoos containing tea tree oil specifically used to kill ice.
After doing research, I realized that there are several steps you have to take in order to successfully use tea tree oil to treat lice. Make sure you have an all natural nit glue dissolver, this will make combing the nits out much easier, a comb specifically made for combing out nits, your main product, the lice killer, should contain the tea tree oil, and you will also need a degreasing shampoo to get the product back out of the hair.
Remember that you will have to treat the hair more than once, even with the tea tree oil product. With just a little research you can safely eradicate lice from your hair and home the natural way.
